Why does slack occur?
Slack in the handlebars may appear completely random, but is usually based on driving style or rare tightening of screws. Regardless - it should be corrected immediately, so as not to make the slack permanent.
It is very important to retighten the folding mechanism regularly. If you notice movement in the handlebar, the handlebar should be tightened immediately.
If you do not tighten the folding mechanism to remove the movement in the handlebar, the attachment to the folding mechanism can become worn and eventually defective. This can result in the handlebar folding down while driving.
How to prevent play and wear in the handle bar:
To avoid slack in the handlebars and in the folding mechanism, it is extremely important to have an active weight distribution on the standing board. Keep one foot forward and one foot placed behind. When accelerating, you distribute the weight more to the front foot, when braking, you distribute the weight more to the rear foot. As a result of the lever principle, the force is loaded at the bottom of the handlebar enormously at full acceleration & full deceleration when pulling and leaning on the handlebars. This is avoided by active weight distribution, and hence a lot of wear on the handlebar is also avoided.
